I completed my postgraduate training in General Medicine & Gastroenterology in the South West Thames Scheme and trained at various hospitals including Kings Liver Unit, Mayday and St Helier University Hospitals. I was awarded a PhD by the University of London for his research work at St George's Hospital Medical School, London. I researched the role of food hypersensitivity in Irritable Bowel Syndrome and its effect on gastrointestinal motility. I have published several articles in leading international journals.
I am currently working as a Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist at Epsom and St Helier University Hospital. I am the Endoscopy Lead as well as Upper GI Cancer Lead for the Trust. I also run a GI physiology laboratory and Hepatitis service at St Helier Hospital.
I have expertise in all forms of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, colonoscopy and ERCP. I have special interest and experience in managing dyspepsia and reflux disease, IBS, colitis, gastrointestinal motor disorders, gastrointestinal cancers and pancreatobiliary and liver diseases. I also have particular interest in managing food hypersensitivity induced IBS, fatty liver disease and non-endocrine obesity.

Dr Zar is paid to provide advisory services to the hospital in relation to the endoscopy service. Duties include endoscopy audit review, clinical governance advice and the review of consultant practices. He was paid £6,000 for this advice in 2017. He also owns 50% of the capsule endoscopy equipment that he uses at Spire St Anthony's Hospital.Back to top
