MBBS, MD(res), MRCP, FRCPath
I have worked in clinical haematology for nearly 20 years, and as a consultant for 11 years. My expertise lies in blood cancer, and more specifically lymphoma, where I have locally spearheaded advanced therapies such as CAR-T cell therapy. However, I maintain competency across the breadth of malignant and general haematology.
I offer diagnosis and management of blood disorders, including low blood counts, high blood counts, enlarged lymph nodes and various other blood and bone marrow disorders. I will initiate and supervise a broad range of treatments of blood disorders, including transfusion, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and advanced cell therapies.
I have been an honorary senior lecturer at University of Southampton (subject to renewal).
My specialist haematology training was at the Royal Marsden Hospital, St George’s Hospital London, and University Hospital Southampton. I also undertook a research MD in stem cell transplantation at University College London and the Anthony Nolan Research Institute.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Dr Robert Lown at Spire include:
Haematology
MBBS / University College London / 2004
Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery
MBBS is a degree given to physicians on completion of medical school
Lead for the autologous transplant and CAR-T cell therapy services for lymphoma at Southampton

In my spare time I love running, cycling and the gym. I'm a keen gardener as well as a bit of a petrol-head, enjoying fast-flowing mountain passes! With my teenage sons I enjoy sailing and hiking.
Once upon a time I was a musician, holding 'grade 8' in flute, singing and music theory, and as a student took part in several west-end productions.
