Some of the principal treatments carried out by Dr Robert Butler at Spire include:
I was appointed in 2003, and I have over 13 years experience as a consultant. I have worked in a major regional cardiac centre in Stoke-on-Trent, where the catchment for tertiary cardiology is nearly 2 million people across Staffordshire, Shropshire and Cheshire. A substantial amount of my workload is treating heart attack patients with angioplasty and closing PFOs for young people who have suffered a stroke. Other structural work includes left atrial appendage closure and MitraClip.
I graduated from Manchester Medical School, and trained as a cardiologist in Liverpool, Dundee, Leicester and Auckland, New Zealand. Finally, I returned to Stoke as a consultant cardiologist.
I am involved in a number of national committees for British Cardiac Society and the Royal College of Physicians. I am also actively involved in research and the teaching of medical students.
I'm the Clinical Lead for Catheter Laboratory and Clinical Lead for Cardiac Rehabilitation.
