Virtual consultations:
I have held a weekly outpatient clinic seeing patients with predominantly gastroenterological or hepatological problems at Spire Parkway Hospital, Solihull since shortly after my appointment as Consultant Physician / Gastroenterologist at Solihull Hospital in November 1991.
I am pleased to say that these clinics have always appeared to be helpful and popular for both patients and their GPs with, at times, a short waiting list developing! I also carry out an Endoscopy List each week at Spire Parkway Hospital that includes both diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopies. I am always happy to include patients for direct access gastroscopy on these lists when it is clinically appropriate.
My busy NHS workload also includes seeing the majority of gastroenterological and hepatological inpatients and outpatients, and also playing a leading part in delivering our general medical services at Solihull Hospital. I was Clinical Director for Medicine at Solihull from April 1992 for almost 10 years and have been Clinical Lead for Gastroenterology within our Trust since December 2008. I am also heavily involved in our medical teaching programme.
As Lead Clinician for Gastroenterology at Solihull Hospital, I personally perform approximately 700 endoscopic procedures each year including many of those on our medical and paramedical colleagues when the need arises!
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Dr Rex James Polson at Spire include:

I also treat inflammatory bowel disease, hepatobiliary disease and the management of dyspepsia.
