  • Endoscopy
  • Gastrointestinal cancer
  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Liver disease

I was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Macclesfield District General Hospital in March 2010 and also practise at Spire Regency Hospital Macclesfield. I provide personalised and comprehensive care for patients with a wide range of digestive and liver conditions, working closely with other specialists to ensure patients receive the most appropriate investigation, diagnosis and treatment.

I qualified from Kilpauk Medical College in Madras, India, in 1994. Following this, I completed senior house officer training in general medicine at several UK hospitals, including the Royal Gwent Hospital, North Staffordshire Hospital and Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry. I then went on to complete my specialist training in Gastroenterology and General Medicine within the Mersey Deanery, training at the Royal Liverpool Hospital, Arrowe Park Hospital and Leighton Hospital in Crewe.

To further develop my expertise, I undertook advanced therapeutic endoscopy fellowship training at St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada, which is recognised as a centre for advanced therapeutic endoscopy and gastrointestinal cancer care. I successfully completed this international fellowship through the University of Toronto in 2007.

Alongside my clinical work, I have a strong interest in education and training. I am the Course Director and Organiser for the nationally run TECNA training course.

I specialise in the investigation and management of a broad range of gastrointestinal conditions, including indigestion (dyspepsia), anaemia, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and changes in bowel habits. I also have extensive experience in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures, including gastroscopy and colonoscopy, as well as colonoscopy with polypectomy, which involves the removal of bowel polyps.

I provide diagnosis and long-term management for inflammatory bowel disease, including ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, and for chronic liver conditions such as fatty liver disease, alcohol-related liver disease and autoimmune liver disease. I am also involved in the investigation and diagnosis of gastrointestinal cancers, helping patients access the appropriate care and support throughout their treatment journey.
