I am a Consultant in Pain Medicine with a specialist interest in helping people manage complex and long-term pain. My focus is on supporting patients to improve their quality of life, regain confidence and get back to the activities that matter most to them.
I treat a wide range of conditions, including back, neck, joint and nerve-related pain. I offer a variety of targeted, image-guided treatments such as injections and radiofrequency procedures, which can help reduce pain and improve movement. These include treatments for sciatica, facet joint pain, sacroiliac joint problems, shoulder pain and headaches, as well as joint injections for hip and knee pain.
I carry out a high volume of these procedures each year, which helps me maintain a high level of precision and consistency in my practice. My approach is always to take the time to listen to each patient’s experience, explain options clearly and work together to find the most suitable treatment plan.
Alongside my clinical work, I am actively involved in teaching and training. I am a College Tutor for the Faculty of Pain Medicine at Wirral University Teaching Hospital and regularly teach medical students at the University of Liverpool.
Outside of work, I enjoy staying active and spending time with my family.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Dr Nicholas Heseltine at Spire include:
