Virtual consultations:
I specialise in all aspects of endocrinology and diabetes, including thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, pituitary and hypogonadal disorders. I diagnose and manage a wide range of endocrine and metabolic conditions, arranging and interpreting investigations to develop personalised treatment plans. I also have extensive experience in managing diabetes, pre-diabetes, obesity and diabetes-related complications.
I have a particular interest in patient education, complex insulin management and complications of diabetes, including kidney disease and neuropathy. My clinical practice also includes the management of diabetic foot disease, diabetic nephropathy, dyslipidaemia and general medical conditions linked to endocrinology and diabetes.
I trained in general internal medicine, diabetes and endocrinology, gaining broad experience in the diagnosis and treatment of endocrine and metabolic disorders. I have more than 10 years’ experience as a Consultant Endocrinologist and Diabetologist within a large university teaching hospital and continue to manage both inpatient and outpatient care.
Programme Director for Endocrinology within the North Western Deanery. I am also a member of the Specialist Advisory Committee in Endocrinology, representing the region.
Alongside my clinical practice, I am actively involved in medical education at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. I am an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Manchester and Cardiff University and contribute to teaching across both primary and secondary care.
I qualified from the University of Manchester in 1993 and completed my specialist training in Manchester and Liverpool. During this time, I also undertook clinical research in Liverpool focusing on diabetic retinopathy screening and have published extensively in this area.
I am an Associate Editor for Diabetic Medicine and regularly review articles for journals including Diabetologia, The Lancet and Diabetes Care. I have published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers in diabetes and endocrinology and continue to contribute to research and academic publication.
I take a holistic and patient-centred approach to care, working closely with patients to help them better understand and manage their condition while supporting long-term health and wellbeing.
