I am a Consultant Gastroenterologist with 28 years of experience at consultant level, specialising in all aspects of gastroenterology with a particular interest in bowel disease. I care for patients with a wide range of digestive health conditions and aim to provide clear advice, thorough investigation and personalised treatment plans.

I joined Hull University Teaching Hospital NHS Trust in 1995. Over the years, I have developed extensive experience in both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including gastroscopy and colonoscopy. I perform more than 10,000 upper gastrointestinal endoscopy procedures and carry out between 300 and 400 colonoscopies each year.

Alongside my clinical work, I have also been involved in training future specialists, many of whom have gone on to become consultants themselves.

I run dedicated clinics for patients with inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. I also see patients with a range of other gastrointestinal conditions, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and coeliac disease.

My specialist interests include inflammatory bowel disease and nutrition, and I run an inflammatory bowel disease clinic within the NHS. I understand that digestive conditions can have a significant impact on daily life, and I aim to provide supportive, patient-centred care while helping patients better understand and manage their symptoms.
