I have expertise in the management of a wide range of respiratory conditions, including chronic cough, interstitial lung disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). I also have a particular interest in sleep‑related disorders, including obstructive sleep apnoea, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome, excessive daytime sleepiness and parasomnias.
I graduated in 1987 and obtained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of the UK in 1992. After gaining broad experience in general medicine, I commenced specialist training in Respiratory Medicine in 1997. Over the following five years, I trained within the Mersey region, working with recognised experts including Professor Peter Calverley (COPD), Professor Mike Pearson (Clinical Effectiveness and Evaluation, RCP), and Professor Peter Davies, noted for his work in tuberculosis.
Since 2002, I have been working as a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
I am the Director of the Blackpool Sleep Service and a member of both the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the British Sleep Society.
My clinical practice includes the management of asthma, lung cancer, chronic lung disease and a wide range of sleep disorders.
