I am dual qualified as a General Medical Physician and Gastroenterologist. I have worked as a Consultant at Luton and Dunstable Hospital for over ten years and provide private specialist gastroenterology support and advice for the people of Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire through Spire Harpenden Hospital. I cover a range of general gastroenterological issues such as constipation, diarrhoea, bloating, abdominal pain, irritable bowel syndrome, food allergies and intolerances, acid reflux and indigestion (dyspepsia).
I have been the Clinical Lead for Gastroenterology at Luton and Dunstable Hospital and at Spire Harpenden. I am a core member of both our local upper gastrointestinal and colorectal cancer multidisciplinary teams. Unlike general Gastroenterologists I also perform capsule enteroscopy and oesophageal manometry studies. I am fully competent in a range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures having completed >3,500 Upper Endoscopies (OGDs) and >3,000 colonoscopies, with one of the highest caecal completion rates of 98.5% in the UK, with good comfort scores (results published on the National Endoscopy Database).
I am the Lead Consultant in Gastroenterology at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital, Bedfordshire. I am also committed to teaching and research. My private practice mirrors that of my NHS service, where I aim to provide high quality care with an open and friendly approach.
I offer my services at the Spire Harpenden Hospital in Hertfordshire as a General Medical Physician, Gastroenterologist and Endoscopist. I cover general gastroenterological issues such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), functional bowel disorders, food allergies and intolerances (eg Coeliac disease), acid reflux and indigestion (dyspepsia). Within my NHS practice I also run the oesophageal cancer stenting and am a core member of the colorectal cancer screening and MDT.
I graduated from St George’s Medical School, London in 1995. I underwent postgraduate medical training in the Southeast Thames region. I completed a Research Fellowship at St Mark’s and St Thomas’ which led to a Master’s degree in 2009 and several publications assessing the effects of bacteria and probiotics in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). I trained through Guy’s, Kings and St Thomas’ Hospital rotations, completing my MD research at St Mark’s.
I have research interests in Coeliac disease, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Capsule Endoscopy, oesophageal dysmotility (eg spasm), and non-invasive bowel investigations.
