I trained at the University of Sheffield and St George's Hospital, and have been a Consultant Diagnostic and Interventional Radiologist at St George's Hospital since 2009. I completed a full year of additional specialist IR fellowship at the Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital in Perth, Australia. My particular areas of interest include the management of lymphovascular malformations with percutaneous sclerotherapy, uterine artery embolisation, pelvic congestion syndrome, salivary gland interventions, and paediatric IR. I have a extensive experience in the treatment of low flow vascular malformations and am one of the pioneers in the treatment of Bleomycin Electrosclerotherapy (BEST) in the country.
I perform a wide range of vascular and non-vascular interventions, such as biopsy and drainage, insertion of lines, portacaths, peripheral arterial angiography and angioplasty, venography, venoplasty, fistuloplasty, nephrostomy and ureteric stenting, percutaneous transhepatic cholangiogram and biliary stenting, transjugular liver biopsy, and insertion of feeding tubes (gastrostomy and gastrojejunostomy, nasogastric and nasojejunal tubes).
I have served as the Head of Department for the Department of Radiology at St George's Hospital, deputy head of department, and clinical governance lead, as well as co-chair of the Hospital Thrombosis Group. I was previously the Regional Educational Adviser for South Thames for the RCR and a member of the London IR Faculty Group. Within the Interventional Radiology community, I have been a member of the IR Subcommittee for the ECR and chair of the Scientific Programme committee for the BSIR. I am currently the chair of the BSIR Research committee, a member of the RCR Academic Committee and a member of the CIRSE Radiation Protection Subcommittee.
I am on the Editorial Board for CVIRendovascular and the Vascular and Endovascular review journals as well as a reviewer for CVIR, BMJ, JVIR, European Radiology and Clinical Radiology journals. I regularly lecture at local, national, and international IR meetings. In my free time, I enjoy reading, travelling, sailing, and spending time with my family.
