Virtual consultations:
I have been a substantive NHS consultant at St George's Hospital since June 2016, appointed to lead the development of the Trust's Acute Neurology Service, having led the Acute Neurology Pilot at King's College Hospital as Senior Registrar.
I completed my medical training in South Africa at the University of the Witwatersrand. I relocated to London in 2005, specialising in Internal Medicine and Care of the Elderly.
My burgeoning interest in Neurodegenerative and Neurovascular disorders shifted my career focus and I switched higher training to Neurology in 2010. I rotated through several centres of excellence including King's College Hospital, Hurstwood Park Neuroscience Centre, St George's Hospital, and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. In 2016, I was awarded an MD for original research in Neurodegenerative Dementia.
I have a broad range of neurological subspecialty experience including headache, peripheral nerve and muscle disease, movement disorders, neuro-inflammatory disorders and stroke. I have specialist clinics in Cognitive Disorders and Urgent Care Neurology (rapid access neurology/'hot' clinics).
I was the clinical lead for Acute Neurology at St George's Hospital from June 2016 to June 2020 establishing a service that was nominated for a national award in its inaugural year. I have also served as Acting Clinical Lead for Delirium and Medical Lead for Informed Consent at St George's Hospital.
In addition to clinical work, I am also involved in postgraduate clinical training and have contributed to several large-scale Quality Improvement Initiatives, including the formulation of London-wide commissioning guidelines for Acute Neurology and Revisions of Clinical Pathways for Informed Consent, Delirium Care and Acute Agitation Management.
