Virtual consultations:
I was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Macclesfield District General Hospital in 2006 and have developed broad experience in both clinical practice and research across gastroenterology, advanced endoscopy and hepatology.
I assess and treat a wide range of digestive health conditions, including reflux, indigestion, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, unexplained weight loss, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), food intolerance and rectal bleeding. I also manage more complex conditions including Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, microscopic colitis and liver disease.
I have a particular interest in the diagnosis and treatment of reflux disease, including Bravo capsule assessment and treatment using the Stretta procedure.
I perform a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, polypectomy, endoluminal stenting, dilatation procedures, PEG and PEJ tube insertion, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and ERCP. To date, I have completed more than 10,000 endoscopic procedures. I am also an accredited colonoscopist within the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme, which requires high standards of quality and safety.
Alongside my clinical practice, I participate in weekly inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) multidisciplinary meetings and currently serve as Lead for Endoscopy. I am also an examiner for accreditation within the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.
I graduated with distinction from the Medical University of Gdansk before undertaking research at Imperial College London, followed by PhD and postdoctoral research at Oxford University. I completed my gastroenterology training in Birmingham and also spent time undertaking further experience in New Zealand.
I remain actively involved in research as a principal investigator for several gastroenterology clinical trials and contributed to the latest British Society of Gastroenterology guidelines on inflammatory bowel disease. I am also an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Salford.
My approach focuses on listening carefully to patients, providing clear explanations and working closely with colleagues across different specialties to deliver personalised and effective care.
