I am a Consultant in Rheumatology and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Having graduated from Leeds University in 1993, I gained experience in General and HIV Medicine before taking up my Rheumatology Specialist training posts in Wessex in 1999. I completed this training in 2005 and commenced my NHS Consultant posts locally in Brighton and Haywards Heath.
I run the Early Inflammatory Arthritis clinic in Brighton for early assessment and treatment of patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis and other inflammatory arthritis conditions and run the Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology Service at RACH.
I was Research Fellow for the European Rheumatology Society in 2001, updating the guidelines for management of knee osteoarthritis and completed my clinical research into knee osteoarthritis at the Medical Research Council in Southampton in 2003.
I am the main author of the BSR Guidelines on Gout Management and ARMA Standards of Care. I maintain a keen interest in improving the care and treatment for patients suffering from gout.
