Virtual consultations:
I am a Consultant Gastroenterologist based in Manchester, specialising in digestive health. I see patients with symptoms such as diarrhoea, reflux, indigestion and rectal bleeding, as well as conditions including colitis, Crohn’s disease, functional bowel disorders and iron deficiency anaemia. I also perform endoscopy procedures to help diagnose and treat a range of gastrointestinal problems.
I qualified in medicine at Oxford University in 1989 and began my career in Oxford before returning to the North West for specialist training. During this time, I completed a PhD funded by the Medical Research Council in 1999. I was later appointed as a Consultant in the gastroenterology department at Hope Hospital.
Alongside my clinical work, I am actively involved in teaching and training. I became an honorary clinical lecturer at the University of Manchester in 2001 and lead undergraduate gastroenterology teaching at Hope Hospital. I am also the Clinical Endoscopy Lead at Spire Manchester Hospital, helping to ensure high standards of care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Dr James Andrew Robinson at Spire include:
BM BCh / Oxford University / 1989

I have five children aged between nine and 24. I am a keen walker, particularly with my dog, and I am generally an outdoor person. I also enjoy quizzes, mental challenges and gardening.
