My main areas of interest are in the treatment of urological, gynaecological and breast cancers. In the treatment of prostate cancer I was involved in the development of the prostate brachytherapy programme in Portsmouth and the introduction of treatment with Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy. I was appointed as a consultant oncologist to Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust in 1989 and as visiting oncologist to St Richard's Hospital in 1995. I qualified at University College Hospital and after training in London and Cardiff and was appointed Lecturer in Oncology at Leeds University 1986-1989. I was the clinical director for the Oncology Centre in Portsmouth for 6 years and was also an elected member of the Faculty Board of the Royal College of Radiologists and subsequently an elected Member of the Council. I was the educational Supervisor for Clinical Oncology in Portsmouth and an advisor to The Wessex Deanery.
