I was appointed Consultant Cardiologist in Cardiff in 2009. I specialise in the diagnosis and management of heart rhythm problems. I have a particular interest in the ablation of atrial fibrillation, and am the lead clinician for the complex arrhythmia ablation programme in South East Wales. In addition, I also undertake the implantation of cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators. My clinical interests also include electrophysiology, cardiac electrophysiology ablation (cautery) of heart rhythm disorders and ventricular tachycardia (VT).
I qualified at the University of Leeds, and obtained a PhD from the same institution later on, through an MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship. I trained in Cardiology subsequently, in Cambridge, and then moved to the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, USA, where I completed an Advanced Fellowship in Cardiac Electrophysiology.
