Professional profile

I qualified from Cambridge University in 1998 and commenced training as a cardiologist in 2002.

I undertook a research degree in 2003 and was awarded my PhD from Kings College London in 2007.

I subspecialised in the treatment of abnormal heart rhythms at two leading international centres (St Bartholomew's Hospital, London and L'Hopital Haut Leveque, Bordeaux, France). I was appointed a consultant in 2011. I provide full outpatient assessment of patients with heart rhythm disorders.

Such patients often describe palpitations, dizziness, shortness of breath or blackouts (syncope). These problems can sometimes be managed with medication and advice... In other cases patients require a procedure. Procedures that I perform regularly include catheter ablation of abnormal heart rhythms (cauterisation of electrical short circuits within heart muscle), pacemaker and defibrillator (ICD) implantation, and also cardiac resynchronisation therapy (for the treatment of heart failure). I have particular interest in the catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation.

Clinical Interests

Special Clinical Interests: Ablation (cautery) of abnormal heart rhythm circuits within the heart. Especially Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) Atrial Fibrillation (AF) Ventricular Tachycardia (VT). Implantation of pacemakers and defibrillators (ICD).
