Offering 30 minute face to face consultations at Spire Leicester Hospital really helps me understand what help patients need from a GP service and enables me to provide truly personalised care for them. With prompt, direct access to a wide range of diagnostic tests and specialist consultant advice, comprehensive care can be provided for my patients in a timely manner.
I qualified from Leicester University School of Medicine in 1996 and then completed basic surgical training before moving into General Practice in 2001. It has been a great privilege for me to be an NHS GP in Leicestershire for over twenty years in a variety of roles including GP partnership for twelve years, as a long term locum and now as a salaried GP. I have been involved in medical education throughout my career both with undergraduates and as a GP trainer. My area of special clinical interest is anticoagulation.
Outside of my clinical practice, I work as a Clinical Director for EMIS Health who develop software for patient records that is used in NHS primary care. Combining medicine and travel, I was fortunate to have a sabbatical at St George’s University, West Indies working in their Clinical Skills department in 2008 and was lucky enough to climb Mt Kilimanjaro, Tanzania in 2010 as expedition doctor.
