Virtual consultations:
I am a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, where I have worked since 2007, specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm conditions, particularly atrial fibrillation (AF).
I see patients with a range of heart rhythm concerns and have a particular focus on treating AF using catheter ablation. I have performed over 2,000 of these procedures and carry out a high volume each year, with a strong emphasis on achieving safe, effective outcomes for my patients.
I also specialise in left atrial appendage occlusion, a procedure that can help reduce stroke risk in patients with atrial fibrillation who are unable to take long-term blood-thinning medication. I lead this service regionally and support other cardiologists across the UK and internationally as they establish this treatment in their own centres.
Alongside my clinical work, I am actively involved in national heart rhythm services. I am a member of the Medical Advisory Board for the AF Association and have served on the Council for the British Heart Rhythm Society, helping to shape the development of arrhythmia care across the UK.
My approach is focused on providing clear, personalised advice and working closely with each patient to decide on the most appropriate treatment, whether that is symptom control, stroke prevention or a more definitive procedure.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Professor Dhiraj Gupta at Spire include:
FRCP (UK) / Royal College of Physicians, London / 2012
Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians
FRCP is conferred on senior physicians who have practised as a substantive consultant for over five years
British Cardiac Society
British Heart Rhythm Society
Royal College of Physicians
British Medical Association
I am an avid researcher with over a 100 scientific publications. I am on the journal review board of high Impact Factor Journals such as Heart, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and Europace.
