Dr Debbie Bethlehem has over 20 years experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist. Dr Bethlehem has worked both within the NHS and in an independent practice, and she has also lectured and been a clinical tutor for undergraduate and postgraduate students. She has a keen interest in neurological communication disorders in adults, as well as voice disorders.
At Spire Bushey Hospital, Dr Bethlehem sees people with voice disorders (caused for example y vocal nodules, muscle tension, vocal fold paralysis and so forth). She also sees people with acquired communication disorders (for instance, following stroke, head injury, Parkinson's disease). Dr Bethlehem also works with people who have dyspraxia, auditory processing disorders, or other communication difficulties that have persisted since childhood, manifesting as word finding problems or difficulties in expressing themselves.
Dr Bethlehem is a Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) trained clinician, which is a gold standard therapy approcah for communication problems in Parkinson's disease. She is also a member of the British Voice Association (BVA) and the lead coordinator of the ASLTIP North-West London/Herts adult neuro local group.
Dr Bethlehem has a person-centred approach to assessment and management, with sessions lasting up to an hour, allowing for questions and concerns to be fully addressed. Session times and days can be arranged to suit personal preferences.
