I do not see patients who require colposcopy or who have vaginal prolapse.
After graduating 1992 and achieving an MB ChB and BMed Biol with Honours, I was awarded a prestigious Medical Research Council Fellowship and gained an MD (Doctor of Medicine) in reproductive medicine. I went on to receive a commendation in his Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and was elevated to Fellow in 2013 I have dual accreditation as subspecialist in gynaecological cancer surgery and obstetrics and gynaecology.
I am the senior full-time Consultant Gynaecologist/Gynaecological Oncologist at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. In addition to an extremely busy clinical practice, I am regional Lead Cancer Consultant for the South East Scotland Cancer Network (SCAN) and co-chairs the National Cancer Quality Improvement Board (NCQIB) and had recently been commissioned by the Scottish Cancer Collaborative to develop national clinical management pathways.
I have driven quality assurance for over two decades as a consultant and is committed to patient care and has focused clinical skills on the development of laparoscopic keyhole operative gynaecological procedures. Consultant colleagues nationally refer complicated cases to my clinics. As a gynaecological oncologist, with higher specialist surgical training, I operate on the most challenging surgical cancer cases which allowed a consistent, precise surgical approach which translates to excellent outcomes for his patients with benign diseases such as endometriosis and heavy periods.
As well as his highly successful career in cancer surgery, I was a joint applicant in the establishment of Edinburgh as an accredited Endometriosis Treatment Centre within the NHS. A current application is currently in preparation to gain recognition at Spire Edinburgh as an accredited endometriosis centre. I am prolific and have conducted thousands of successful procedures with low complication rates. I employ the very latest 3-D video laparoscopy and this has been refined over years to provide surgery with fewer incisions and superior outcomes compared to open surgery and robotic surgery. I will provide a completely bespoke hand tailored treatment plan for patients with endometriosis with strong emphasis of fertility preservation where desired and radical excision when needed.
