Dr Anthony Ugwuoke

I have been working as an orthopaedic surgeon for just over six years, following specialist training across several well-regarded centres in the UK. I trained primarily in the West Midlands and completed an advanced fellowship at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. This was an important stage in my career, allowing me to develop expertise in more complex hip and knee surgery, including minimally invasive techniques designed to support recovery.

Since becoming a consultant, I have worked in both NHS and private healthcare settings with high patient volumes. This experience has helped me refine my surgical skills and approach, ensuring I deliver consistently high standards of care tailored to each patient.

I specialise in primary hip and knee replacements, helping patients improve mobility and quality of life when joint pain or damage becomes limiting. Alongside this, I have a particular interest in more complex primary joint replacements and the management of peri-prosthetic fractures, which are fractures that occur around existing joint replacements.

Over the course of my practice, I have performed more than 900 total hip replacements and a similar number of total knee replacements across a range of healthcare environments in the UK. This breadth of experience has given me a strong understanding of different patient needs and treatment approaches.

In addition to my clinical work, I am an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Buckingham. I am passionate about contributing to the education and training of future healthcare professionals, alongside continuing to develop my own practice.
