Specialises in

  • Cardiac catheterisation
  • Coronary angioplasty
  • Cardioversion
  • Cardiomemo recording

I am an interventional cardiologist specialising in complex coronary angioplasty, including opening chronically blocked arteries. I also maintain a strong interest in all aspects of cardiology and see patients with a variety of symptoms including chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, dizzy spells or blackouts, swollen legs and fatigue. I also welcome patients who feel well but are looking to have a 'heart check-up'. I am caring, patient-orientated and practice contemporary, evidence based medicine.

I have safely performed over 3,000 coronary angiogram and angioplasty procedures and have very low complication rates. I feel strongly about patient safety and doctor accountability and as such I am the cardiology clinical governance lead at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

I obtained my MBChB in Medicine and BSc in Medical Sciences from the University of Edinburgh in 2007, gained my Membership of the Royal College of Physicians, London in 2010 and my PhD in Medicine from the University of Leicester in 2017. I achieved the GMC Certificate of Completion of Training in Cardiology in 2019. After completing my specialist cardiology training in the East Midlands, I undertook a fellowship at the CK Hui Heart Centre in Edmonton, Canada, in 2019-20.

I have a strong academic profile with more than 30 peer reviewed publications. I am an associate editor for the European Heart Journal - Case Reports and I am on the reviewing committee for case presentations for the European Society of Cardiology annual congress. I also acted as a reviewer for a number of journals including The Lancet, JACC Cardiovascular Interventions, European Heart Journal Quality and Outcomes, Journal for the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention, Medicine, Science and the Law and European Heart Journal – Case Reports.

I am passionate about teaching and training the next generation of doctors and allied health professionals. I have been an Advanced Life Support instructor since 2018 and I am currently a medical student and junior doctor supervisor and trainer at Nottingham University. I have recently setup a catheter laboratory simulation training programme for staff at the Trent Cardiac Centre and I am an administrator and lecturer for the Academy of Forensic Medical Sciences.
