I have wealth of experience in field of gastroenterology for over 20 years. I have been a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Wirral University Teaching Hospitals since 2007. I have been offering specialist gastroenterology and endoscopy services at Spire Murrayfield, Wirral since 2011.
I have special interest in advanced endoscopy, colonoscopy , diseases of the gut, liver and pancreas. I have expertise in diagnosing and managing Gastrointestinal cancers, Inflammatory Bowel diseases, Dyspepsia and Irritable Bowel syndrome. I regularly care for patients with symptoms of abdominal pain, reflux, bloating, altered bowel habit, rectal bleeding and gluten intolerance.
I have special interest in diseases of the liver including fatty or metabolic liver diseases and pancreatic disorders.
I regularly perform ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatiography) to treat Gallstones.
I am passionate about delivering clinical excellence, service development, education and training and upholding professional values. I base my care on latest scientific evidence and innovations currently available. I believe in
patient centered approach and aim to offer a personalized service to my patients from
start to finish. I consider myself as very approachable, meticulous and pragmatic in my
practice.

My training included an initial five years of higher training in Gastroenterology from the Mersey Region during which I gained expertise broad gastroenterology and endoscopic procedures. I then competed nationally for the Advanced Fellowship in the Liver Unit, QE Hospital Birmingham, which is one of the most prestigious liver transplant centres in Europe. I was formally awarded specialty accreditation in Hepatology by National Training Board in 2007. In 2010 I was awarded a
traveling fellowship to South Carolina, USA by the British Society of Gastroenterology tofurther my skills in specialised endoscopy. I was conferred Fellowship of the Royal College in 2011
To date, (2025) I have performed over 5000 gastroscopies including therapeutic procedures such as oesophageal dilatation, treatment of bleeding ulcers and banding of
varices. I have performed over 3000 colonoscopies/polypectomies and over 4000 ERCPs with stent insertions/stone extractions over a 20 year period in both my NHS and private practice at Spire Murrayfield, Wirral. I regularly see and manage complex liver and GI diseases in my clinics - referred specifically for my expert opinion. I also offer Fibroscan to measure liver stiffness which indicates severity of underlying liver disease without need for liver biopsy
Over the years I have contributed immensely to shape current gastroenterology services on the Wirral peninsula. I was overall Clinical service lead for Gastroenterology for 4 years and then lead for Liver and Pancreatic services for further 3 years. This was an onerous task and involved leading a department of 10 colleagues and with responsibility of service delivery, departmental governance and managing performance for wide ranging services.
In my tenure as service lead, I implemented several service improvements, initiated 7 day working services in gastroenterology, led on recruitment and been appraiser for colleagues . I am an educator, regularly teach undergrad students from University of Liverpool, supervise endoscopy fellows, and have been MRCP examiner. I have published in peer reviewed journals and have led on several pathway design in and out of the hospital.

I live on the Wirral with my wife, our son and Zara, the cutest cockapoo. We are an active family who love outdoor activities and are enthusiastic walkers . We have busy social life and are blessed to have a good network of friends on the Wirral. I am a keen tennis player and an active member of Heswall Tennis Club. I am passionate about cooking and love to prepare Indian and Italian dishes with a twist.
