I am a Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia, and Joint Clinical Lead of the Pain Management Service at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, one of the largest pain services in the West Midlands. I hold fellowships with both the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the Faculty of Pain Medicine and have more than 20 years of experience in anaesthesia and pain management.

I support people living with persistent pain who want clear answers, an honest discussion about their options and a treatment plan tailored to their individual needs. Depending on your condition, treatment may involve a review of your medication, image-guided injections, physiotherapy, psychological support or a combination of these approaches.

I treat a wide range of pain conditions affecting the back, neck, joints and nerves. This includes low back pain, sciatica, neck pain, facet joint pain and sacroiliac joint pain. I also manage shoulder, hip, knee and ankle pain, including pain associated with arthritis.

My practice includes the treatment of nerve-related pain such as trigeminal neuralgia, peripheral neuropathy, nerve entrapment and post-surgical nerve pain. I also support people with fibromyalgia, chronic widespread pain, plantar fasciitis, pelvic pain, coccyx (tailbone) pain and complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS).

I provide a range of pain management treatments, with all injections performed under ultrasound or X-ray guidance to support accuracy and safety. These include radiofrequency denervation for back, neck, sacroiliac joint, hip and knee pain, facet joint and medial branch blocks, epidural and nerve root injections for sciatica, pulsed radiofrequency for nerve pain, and joint injections to the hip, knee, shoulder and sacroiliac joint. I also offer ganglion impar blocks for coccyx and pelvic pain, peripheral nerve blocks, trigger point injections, and medication review and optimisation.

During your first consultation, I will review your medical history, examine you and assess any previous scans or investigations. My aim is to help you understand what may be causing your pain and provide a personalised treatment plan. Where an injection is appropriate, it can often be arranged quickly.

I trained in Egypt and the West Midlands, UK, completing advanced pain medicine training before my consultant appointment. I see more than 1,000 patients a year in the NHS and teach and supervise doctors in training. I present nationally on pain medicine and won the Faculty of Pain Medicine Trainee Abstract Prize in 2022.
