I am a consultant respiratory physician at Spire Cheshire Hospital with over 14 years of experience as a Consultant Physician. I have broad experience across all aspects of respiratory medicine and specialises in the management of chronic cough, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchiectasis, pulmonary fibrosis and sarcoidosis.
I have a particular interest in interstitial lung diseases, including pulmonary fibrosis and sarcoidosis, and have managed thousands of patients with these conditions. I have also established a multi-specialty clinic for patients with connective tissue diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis who experience breathing difficulties and developed his NHS service to national recognition.
I take a thorough and compassionate approach to care, with a strong emphasis on clear communication and evidence-based treatment. I am committed to seeing improvements through and takes great pride in delivering high-quality care to my patients. I lead a nationally acclaimed ILD service at my trust and I am known for providing excellent patient care, leading with innovation, care and compassion.
In addition to my clinical practice, I am actively involved in research and education. I have led several clinical trials as Principal investigator, enabling local patients to access emerging treatments and take part in important studies. I am the lead clinician for Respiratory medicine and Deputy Medical Director at Wrightington Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust. I have won National recognition (NIHR-RCP award 2021) for research leadership as Respiratory Reserach lead for Greater Manchester Clinical Research Network lead (2020-22), and as Theme lead (2022-24). I am an honorary Senior lecturer at Edgehill University and a steering group member of Cardio-Respiratory Research group. I supervise undergraduate and postgraduate doctors in training and is an examiner for Medical students and post graduate doctors. In addition, I am the Regional Speciality advisor to Royal college of Physicians for Respiratory Medicine for North West England region.
At Wrightington Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust, I am a part of the Medicine Management Strategic Board, Quality and Safety committee and Improving MEWS committee.
I am the Clinical Director at Scheduled Care, Department of Medicine.
I have been involved with several research projects and publications including Extensive diversification is a common feature of pseudomonas aeruginosa populations during respiratory infections in cystic fibrosis in 2013, Health related quality of life outcomes in adult CF patients infected with epidemic pseudomonas aeruginosa strain in 2012, Increasing resistance of the Liverpool Epidemic Strain (LES) of Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Psa) to antibiotics in cystic fibrosis (CF)—A cause for concern in 2012 and Halting the Spread of Epidemic Pseudomonas aeruginosa in an Adult CF Centre: a 7 Year Prospective Surveillance Study in 2013
