MD MRCP
Specialises in
Virtual consultations:
I qualified from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, London in 1989. I trained in osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease in London, Sheffield and Manchester.
I have been a Consultant Rheumatologist at Stepping Hill Hospital since 2000. Please note that I only see patients with osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease. I gained a prestigious 'Wellcome Trust' fellowship to undertake research in a large European study of osteoporosis in both men and women. This resulted in numerous scientific articles being published and presentations of my research globally at scientific meetings. It also resulted in me being awarded an MD thesis from The University of Manchester
I established the Osteoporosis Service in Stockport in 2004 and, more recently, a Fracture Prevention Nurse-Led Service. I receive osteoporosis referrals both locally and regionally, often from GPs, orthopaedic surgeons and other clinicians seeking further support with the management of their patients.
I have an approachable manner and strive to make patients feel relaxed and comfortable during consultations. Clear communication is very important to me, and I take pride in ensuring that my patients fully understand their condition and treatment options. I am also supported by my excellent secretary, Beverley Burnett, who responds to queries promptly and efficiently.
