I am gynaecological surgical oncologist working at the University Hospital of Wales. I commenced my consultant post in January 2013 following completion of my subspecialty training in gynaecological oncology in Nottingham. I undertook my general obstetrics and gynaecology training in several regions of the United Kingdom including the Wessex, North West, Mid Trent and London Deaneries. I feel this has given me a broad exposure to various conditions and their management. As a gynaecological oncologist, I am often involved with very complex surgery and am equally competent at minimally invasive and open surgery. I have a great interest in women’s healthcare and work hard to keep myself competent and up to date to achieve good outcomes.
During my training years, I undertook a period of research and was a clinical fellow on the UKCTOCS trial (world’s largest ovarian cancer screening trial) and completed my PhD in refining methods of ultrasound screening for ovarian cancer. I did my PhD from University College London. I have continued to maintain an active interest in research and am the Principal Investigator for several trials at the University Hospital of Wales site. I am also a contributor to several research and audit projects within the department and presented nationally and internationally.
I have an interest in education and teaching and have organised/been involved with postgraduate teaching and courses.
