Mr Dafydd Wilson-Evans
MSc, BSc (Hons), RD
"I enjoy working at Spire Bristol Hospital. The staff are very welcoming and always happy to help."
I am an Obesity Specialist Dietitian with over 10 years' experience. My specialist interest in weight management started early in my career as a dietitian. I have shaped my career supporting patients within the field of obesity, providing effective nutritional interventions to promote sustained weight loss, but also improve weight related diseases such as type 2 diabetes. I have gained extensive experience within the field of obesity which has led to me expanding my practice within the specialty of Bariatric Surgery and becoming a Bariatric Dietetic Practitioner.
My intervention involves tailoring nutritional plans that work for the individual, avoiding a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach. As a dietitian, I provide evidence based nutritional intervention and steer patients away from ‘fad-diets’. I am passionate about supporting patients to achieve the best possible outcome, ensuring that the patient achieves their aims and optimises their nutritional status.
As well as nutritional intervention, I believe in a multi-professional approach to weight management which may involve surgical, medical, psychological and/or exercise treatments. I aim to provide patients with knowledge and skills that will assist them life-long, promoting physical, psychological and nutritional wellness.
I was awarded a prestigious NIHR research grant to undertake clinical research within the field of bariatric surgery. The research investigated the long term management of vitamin and mineral provision within a postoperative bariatric surgery population.
I have been involved in developing local policy and guidelines relating to weight management and bariatric surgery to ensure the provision of exceptional patient care.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Dafydd Wilson-Evans at Spire include:

Outside of my clinical work I enjoy playing and coaching rugby which has helped me to develop key skills in team work and leadership. I like to keep fit by going running, cycling and to the gym. Much of my spare time is spent with my family as I am a proud father of two children.
