Stephen Fower, aged 57, from Leek, Staffordshire, underwent a series of exploratory procedures with the Ear, Nose and Throat Department at Spire Regency Hospital in Macclesfield.
After 14 months struggling with symptoms including a swelling in his throat and a sensitive gag reflex which had failed to be resolved despite several trips to his GP. Mr Fower wanted a second opinion and some specialist advice.
After picking Spire Regency through the NHS Choose and Book system, he underwent two endoscopies at the Macclesfield hospital which confirmed he was suffering from acid reflux. He now manages the condition with daily medication.
