Spire Healthcare named a strategic supplier to NHS and DHSC

09 May 2025

Spire Healthcare, the leading independent healthcare group in the UK, is pleased to have been named as a strategic supplier to the National Health Service and the Department of Health and Social Care.

Justin Ash, Spire Healthcare CEO said: “As a strategic supplier to the NHS and DHSC, we look forward to enhancing our already strong partnerships with the NHS where we are making a meaningful contribution to help reduce waiting lists. At Spire alone we cared for almost 200,000 NHS patients in 2024. We have the capability to help greater numbers of NHS patients and look forward to doing even more to improve the health of the nation across our hospitals, primary care and occupational health services.”

Following today’s announcement and the government confirming in January a new partnership agreement between the NHS and the independent sector, Spire looks forward to:

  • partnering with commissioners to explore capital projects that may enhance Spire’s capacity and capabilities to care for more NHS patients in areas with challenging waiting times
  • developing and launching new community-based healthcare propositions in the self-help and prevention spaces; and
  • investing in more innovative technology such as robotics to deliver more accurate and precise surgeries for NHS patients that are quicker to recover from, with less complications
