Spire Healthcare launches end to end workplace health solution

  • New integrated proposition spans prevention, advisory and treatment
  • Comes as 2.8 million UK working-age adults are inactive due to health issues
  • Data shows early intervention and access to treatment drives >90% return to work rate

Spire Healthcare, a leading independent healthcare provider, has launched an end‑to‑end workplace health solution designed to help employers proactively improve employee wellbeing, reduce sickness absence, and boost productivity.

Spire Workplace Health brings together a single integrated proposition that spans prevention, advice and treatment - including access to Spire GPs, physiotherapy, musculoskeletal services, mental health support, diagnostics and elective hospital care. Building on its track record of supporting employers, Spire is among the first national providers offering a comprehensive ‘one‑partner’ model, replacing the fragmented and rigid services that currently dominate the market.

Early intervention and access to treatment have proven benefits with, for example, Spire’s data showing that access to physiotherapy and musculoskeletal treatment within 5 days drives >90% return to work success rates.

Responding to a critical moment for workforce health

The launch comes at a time when the UK economy and employers face escalating health‑related challenges, with 2.8 million working-age adults inactive due to health issues. Sickness absence and lower output are costing businesses £4-5K per employee per year, with workers now taking an average of 9.4 sick days annually.

Many organisations are poorly equipped to proactively support their employees through early intervention when they face common health issues like stress, anxiety, burnout and musculoskeletal problems.

Most employer support still begins only after an employee is already unwell - a system the Government’s Keep Britain Working review has identified as a major barrier to labour-market participation and improving national productivity.

Jon Clover, Managing Director, Spire Workplace Health, said:

“Most of us will face health issues during our working lives, either personally or offering support to colleagues as a manager, but current solutions for businesses are fragmented and far too reactive.

Workplace health in the UK is at a tipping point. Employers are grappling with increasingly complex employee health needs, rising absence and reduced productivity.

Spire Workplace Health is designed to provide an end‑to‑end service that helps businesses predict risks, offer preventative solutions, support employees early, and provide fast, high‑quality treatment when needed.

“Proactively supporting employees to manage their health in a timely and safe way, from onboarding to retirement, in turn also benefits employers and the UK economy.”
