I see all general cardiology patients and specialise in the assessment of chest pain, breathlessness and palpitations. I trained at Cambridge and Oxford Universities and work as a Consultant Cardiologist and Chief Executive of St Bartholomew’s Hospital.
From 2008 to 2011 I was Honorary Secretary of the British Cardiovascular Society, the professional body for UK Cardiologists.
I was past Head of Cardiology training in London as Chair of the London Cardiology Specialty Training Committee and was a member of the Royal College of Physicians Specialty Advisory Committee.
I was Associate Editor of Heart journal, the UK’s leading cardiovascular journal. My research interests include acute coronary syndromes and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, in which I have published over 100 scientific papers.
In 2020 I was seconded as Chief Executive of the NHS Nightingale Hospital London. In July 2020, I was awarded the Freedom of the City of London by invitation of the Lord Mayor in acknowledgment of my outstanding role in the pandemic.
In the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours, I received an OBE for services to the NHS and people with heart disease.
