BSc, MMedSci, MNutr
I am a dietitian at Spire Leeds Hospital and also I am a dietitian and team leader within the community dietetic team at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
I have been a HCPC registered dietitian for over 17 years, with extensive experience not only within community but also in hospital settings.
I work with both adults and children.
I have a wealth of experience in general nutrition and dietetics. I work with patients to critically analyse dietary, health and lifestyle information to support them to meet their individual nutritional needs.
I have special interest in the treatment of malnutrition and also in gastroenterology, particularly coeliac disease and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
I am also experienced in paediatric dietetics and work with children and parents in areas such as allergy particularly cow's milk protein, soya and egg allergy, constipation, fussy eating, eating challenges in neurodivergency and faltering growth.
When I intially qualified I worked within the Dietetic Department in North Staffordshire, where I spent my time as the dietitian for adult gastroenterology wards and outpatient clinics and within the paediatric diabetes team.
As my career progressed I moved to Derby Royal Hospital where I predominantly worked within the Hospital Nutrition Team, Critical Care, and Stroke.
I then went on to secure my current role within the NHS in community dietetics and later for Spire Leeds. I am trained in dietary counselling and coaching skills.
I have attended postgraduate training such as Kings College FODMAP training and MCEAD (ARFID) training.
In addition to clinical work, I have spent time in leadership roles. I am responsible for Dietetic service provision within the South of Nottinghamshire.
I have a keen interest in work force development and I am the dietetic student training lead within the NHS Trust I work. Related to this I recently successfully completed a Health Education England funded placement capacity project.
I am involved in the education of others and have lectured on the University of Nottingham dietetic course and delivered training to undergraduate medical students whilst working within Derby. I have provided allergy training to other healthcare professionals such as GPs.
I have participated in research such as poster presentation of the findings of 'evaluation of percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy placement in patients following a Stroke' at the British Association of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition conference an am a published co-author in the Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
