My name is Shaazia (Shaz) Khatri, I am a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist currently based at Spire Leicester Hospital and leading the physiotherapy team at Glenfield Hospital, part of the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. I hold a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and a Master’s-level module qualification in Teaching. I have proudly served within the NHS for 19 years, with 17 of those dedicated to respiratory care.
Over the past decade, my clinical focus has been in the respiratory outpatient setting, where I manage a broad range of complex presentations including asthma, breathing pattern disorder (BPD), inducible laryngeal obstruction (ILO), and bronchiectasis, among others. I am passionate about delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care that empowers individuals to take control of their health and wellbeing.
In addition to my respiratory expertise, I have a strong interest in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. I am a member of both the UHL Physiotherapy Acupuncture Group and the British Medical Acupuncture Society (BMAS), and I am BradCliffe-trained in the management of breathing pattern disorders. I also hold APPI Level 1 and 2 Pilates instructor certifications, including specialist training in pre- and post-natal Pilates.
I am actively involved in physiotherapy education, teaching at university level with a focus on breathing pattern disorders (BPD). I have delivered both national and local presentations on key physiotherapy topics, contributing to the advancement of clinical practice and professional development across the field.
I am deeply committed to improving patient outcomes through compassionate practice, clinical excellence, and lifelong learning. My goal is to continue supporting respiratory patients with tailored, holistic care while contributing to the ongoing advancement of respiratory physiotherapy and the development of the next generation of clinicians.
