Mrs Gemma MacQueen

Clinical Scientist in Audiology

"Working at Spire London East Hospital is very rewarding. I always enjoy working here. Staff are friendly, approachable and committed to excellent patient care."

I began my career in 2003 after achieving a MSc at University College London in Audiological Science. I have undertaken further training to achieve my Certificate of Audiological Competence to become a registered Clinical Scientist in Audiology. I have gained vast experience over the years in all areas of adult and paediatric Audiology.

I am proficient in adult hearing and balance testing, tinnitus assessment and management, hearing aid fitting, balance rehabilitation, paediatric hearing testing and hearing aid fitting. My extensive experience has provided me with the skills to confidently and competently test and manage patients with complex audiological issues.

I specialise in audiological and vestibular Audiology in adults. I have a particular interest in tinnitus assessment and management and rehabilitating patients suffering with dizziness and benign paroxysamol positional vertigo (BPPV) using paricle repositioning manoeuvres and customised vestibular rehabilitation.

I also specialise in testing the hearing of children from the age of 7 months and over, including those with additional needs. This includes monitoring for glue ear cases using specialised methods such as visual reinforcement audiometry, play audiometry, tympanometry and oto-acoustic emissions.
