Specialises in
I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust with over 17 years of experience in Trauma and Orthopaedics. I specialise in the assessment and treatment of both trauma-related and elective foot and ankle conditions, caring for patients with problems affecting the bones, joints, ligaments, tendons and soft tissues of the foot and ankle.
My practice includes the full range of conservative and surgical treatments, and I have a particular interest in managing complex conditions. I regularly perform arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, reconstructive procedures, deformity correction such as bunions and flatfoot, fracture management, tendon repair, ankle fusion and total ankle replacement.
Much of my elective work focuses on complex reconstructive surgery. This includes flatfoot and cavus foot correction, complex deformity work, and a variety of bone grafting procedures and osteotomies, including calcaneal and midfoot osteotomy. I also perform a wide range of joint fusion procedures, such as triple fusion, subtalar and hindfoot fusion, midfoot fusion, and fusion of the big toe or smaller toe joints.
My specialist ankle practice includes ankle replacement, ankle fusion, ankle arthroscopy, and advanced ligament repair. I also carry out a full breadth of forefoot and toe surgery, including bunion surgery, cheilectomy, toe fusion, and reconstructive procedures for rheumatoid foot deformities.
In addition, I manage a variety of soft tissue and tendon problems, offering treatment for Achilles tendinopathy, tendon rupture repair, neuroma and fibroma surgery, tendon transfers, and cartilage reconstruction. I also provide image‑guided joint injections for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
Alongside my clinical work, I maintain a strong academic interest. I have published research in peer reviewed journals and presented my work at national and international conferences including BOFAS, IOFAS, and AOFAS. I am also actively involved in medical education and serve as a mentor, trainer, and examiner for undergraduate and postgraduate trainees linked with Newcastle University and the Northern Deanery.
I am committed to delivering high quality, patient centred care, with a focus on clinical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement in foot and ankle surgery.
