FRCS
I am one of two Consultant Surgeons in the country who is fully funded by the NHS to provide surgery for patients with sleep disordered breathing. I work at the Royal National Throat, Nose & Ear Hospital in central London and also at Queens Hospital in East London. I'm at the forefront of new technologies for Snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA), and working with researchers to be the first surgeon in the country to implant a bilateral hypoglossal nerve stimulator for severe OSA.
I am also developing new techniques and classifications for snoring and sleep apnoea, and regularly speak at international conferences. Having won the prestigious National Ear Surgery Prize in 2014 (Royal Society of Medicine Temporal Bone Competition), I also have a specialist interest in Otology. In this area I specifically focus on treating tinnitus, vertigo and cholesteatoma.
I am a dedicated trainer of junior doctors and also the founder and director of a charity which provides educational ENT courses to doctors and nurses nationwide.
I am well recognised for my clinical style and believe that by thoroughly explaining symptoms and diseases to my patients, it allows them to truly understand their condition. This knowledge empowers patients to take control of their health problem and make well informed choices about the treatment options available.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Vik Veer at Spire include:
Ear Nose and Throat (ENT)
