I had my higher surgical training in ENT and head and neck surgery as a specialist registrar in the Mersey region. I undertook a fellowship in otology and otoneurology in Perth, Western Australia where I had further training in middle ear and mastoid surgery, especially in ossiculoplasty, mastoid obliteration and facial nerve surgery. I went on a TWJ foundation travelling fellowship to Dresden Germany to learn about implantable hearing aids for sensorineural deafness.
