Specialises in
I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, one of only a few who focus exclusively on the treatment of hip disorders. I have been a consultant in two of the leading orthopaedic hospitals in the world, including the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London. I treat a wide variety of patients with hip problems from adolescents to the very elderly, including young adults with sports injuries around the hip.
My clinical practice encompasses osteoarthritis, labral tears, hip impingement, hip dysplasia, avascular necrosis and muscle injuries around the hip. I have a high-volume hip replacement practice and use a variety of approaches including minimally invasive techniques, different implant types and robotic-assisted surgery. I undertake keyhole surgery (arthroscopy) to manage labral tears and treat hip impingement.
I perform over 300 hip operations per year, including hip replacements, revision hip replacements, hip arthroscopy and hip realignment (osteotomy) surgery.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Simon Newman at Spire include:
