I am a Consultant Specialist Knee Surgeon and University of Bristol Senior Lecturer, privileged to care for patients here in Bristol. Because I dedicate my entire practice to elective knee surgery, I am able to draw upon the full spectrum of advanced surgical and non-surgical treatments to precisely match your needs.
My priority is to help you reduce pain, restore knee function, and regain confidence in your everyday life or sport. I believe in a shared approach to decision-making regarding your care. Where appropriate, I provide rapid access to advanced MRI imaging and collaborate closely with specialist physiotherapists to coordinate seamless rehabilitation, supporting your safe return to activity.
My clinical practice is driven by the very latest medical evidence. I am the lead author of the UK National Guidelines on the management of meniscal injuries, and my research is published in top-tier medical journals, including The Lancet, British Journal of Sports Medicine, and American Journal of Sports Medicine. As an internationally recognised specialist, I am frequently invited to speak at major national and international conferences. I am Specialty Editor (Knee) for the Bone & Joint Research (BJR) Journal.
By combining clinical academic expertise with a deeply personalised approach, I deliver the highest standard of modern surgical care. I see patients for a wide range of knee problems, from acute sports injuries in professional athletes to long-term knee arthritis.
My specialist surgical practice includes:
Alongside my clinical work, I hold a DPhil (PhD) from the University of Oxford (Christ Church college) and serve as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol. I teach at the medical school, supervise multiple PhD students, and lead an active, internationally prize-winning musculoskeletal research group. Collaborating with engineers, statisticians, and computer scientists, our work is supported by grant awards in orthopaedic innovation from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). This ensures that both my research and the care I provide remain at the absolute forefront of orthopaedic advancement.
I warmly welcome NHS, medically insured, and self-paying patients.
