BM BCh Oxford, MA
I am a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, as well as Mexborough Elective Orthopaedic Centre of Excellence.
I specialise solely in treating arthritis of the hip and knee.
I have completed higher surgical training in the South Yorkshire Rotation, following this I have undertaken additional senior fellowship training at the James Cook University Hospital, a major revision centre and at North Allerton a high volume elective hub.
I have additional experience in robotic joint replacement surgery, having completed the intensive Stryker MAKO fellowship, this is the highest level of training in the MAKO system.
I offer non-operative treatments for hip and knee arthritis including steroid injections and hyaluronic acid injections. If symptoms warrant I offer personalised joint replacement surgery. This includes partial knee replacement, total knee replacement, total hip replacement. I also offer redo surgery for when a joint replacement has worn out.
I use implants with a proven track record and reliable results, additionally I submit 100% of my operations to the national joint register to help the next generation of patients.
I offer robotic joint replacements using the MAKO system which offers increased accuracy and balancing techniques compared to traditional surgery.
In my NHS role I am clinical lead for hip fracture care, and I am involved in training the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Samir Ali Salih at Spire include:
