MSc. FRCS, FRCS (Orth)
I am a consultant spinal surgeon based at Salford Royal Hospital and Royal Manchester Children's Hospital where I see referrals from general practitioners and complex spinal referrals from other surgeons.
My expertise includes dealing with back pain and the various problems associated with the degenerative spine. I am trained to perform microdiscectomy, microdecompression, various fusion techniques and instrumentation of the spine.
My special clinical interests include back pain, degenerative lumbar spine disorders, sciatica, spinal injuries, infection and tumours, disc replacement, adult and paediatric spine deformity surgery, micro-decompression for spinal canal stenosis, spinal insufficiency fractures (osteoporosis) and spinal tumours.
I completed my higher surgical training in the Northwest and did a fellowship in complex spinal surgery under the supervision of Dr R W Gaines Jr. MD at the prestigious Columbia Regional Hospital, University of Missouri USA. During my time there I learned techniques of dealing with complex spinal problems.
I have had papers published in peer reviewed journals and have research interests in spinal deformity and degenerative back conditions.
