I qualified from the University of Birmingham in 1994, so I have 30 plus years of surgical experience. I specialise in minimally invasive surgery and 90% of my operations are performed with keyhole or laparoscopic techniques.
This means my patients have less pain after surgery, less time off work and a quicker return to normal activity.
I focus on surgery for Gallstones, hernia’s, acid reflux, weight loss and cancers of the oesophagus and stomach. I am also highly trained in Endoscopy and can offer treatments for blockages and removal of polyps.
I have published widely in my areas of specialism and spent time performing collaborative research with University College London.
I have trained with leading experts in the UK, Europe, Japan and Australia and I have performed many thousands of surgeries with excellent outcomes.
My NHS practice is based across Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands and Solihull Hospitals. I have led the Upper GI service for Birmingham covering a population of more than 3million for over 5 years. In that time I have developed a Gallstone treatment service that treats a 1000 plus patients a year and re-organised the upper GI Cancer services for the Birmingham area.
I teach and train future surgeons and I examine trainees for the Royal College of Surgeons. I sit on the national council of the Association of Upper GI Surgeons representing the interests of Surgeons, trainees and patients of the whole of the West Midlands region.
I practice evidence based, patient centred care and offer a diligent, empathetic and caring approach to all my patients.
