Mr Pregash Ellapparadja

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon

MBBS, MS ORTHO, MRCS, FRCS(ORTH)

I am a fellowship trained fully qualified Orthopaedic surgeon with consultant experience of over 8 years with expertise in offering Knee arthroplasty and soft tissue knee surgery and treatment of sports knee injuries. I have completed two fellowships - Derby soft tissue Knee fellowship where I learnt the principles of ligament reconstruction around the knee joint.

I complemented this fellowship with a BOA transitional osteotomy fellowship in Carlisle where I learnt the principles of alignment of the knee joint. I have also completed a clinical leadership programme as part of this BOA fellowship. As part of my higher surgical training in Glasgow, I worked in Golden Jubilee Hospital, European centre of excellence for Arthroplasty where I consolidated my hip and knee arthroplasty skills while getting involved in the principles of enhanced recovery which I implement in my day to day practice.

I am a Fellowship trained Knee surgeon with special interest in joint preserving surgeries including osteotomy and soft tissue knee surgery ligament reconstruction. I offer A La carte treatment including joint preservation as dictated by the patients needs. On the arthroplasty side, I offer total knee replacement, partial knee replacement including unicompartmental and PFJ knee replacement.

I offer ligament reconstruction surgeries including ACL and mulitligament reconstructions. I have a keen interest in patellar instability problems and offer MPFL, TTO and Trochleoplasty surgeries. In younger patients, who want to preserve their knee joint either for sporting activities or to accommodate physical demands of the job, I offer osteotomy of the knee to help with the patient preserving their own joint.

I follow evidence-based medicine in my practice and actively submit my data to NJR, NLR and osteotomy registry as I believe in reflective practice. Since my consultancy in 2021, I have performed over 200THRs, 300 TKRs, 75 UKRs, 40 HTOs, 100 ACLs, 15 MCLs and 50 MPFL TTO and numerous arthroscopic meniscal surgeries/cartilage repairs.
