Mr Nikhil Nanavati

I am a high-volume Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in foot and ankle surgery. My expertise spans the full spectrum of foot and ankle procedures, with particular focus on sporting injuries, minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery, and complex deformity correction. I was educated at The Manchester Grammar School and studied medicine at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, followed by orthopaedic training in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working alongside three past presidents of the British Foot and Ankle Society, including completing a 16-month fellowship with Miss Patricia Allen in Leicester. Additionally, I undertook a trauma fellowship in Malawi, Africa, and earned a postgraduate Master’s degree in Orthopaedic Engineering from Cardiff University, graduating with Merit. I ranked 11th nationally in my orthopaedic training entry exam and 4th in Yorkshire for my basic surgical training entry exam.

I have received awards for innovation in orthopaedic surgery and have published research in multiple journals, including the British Medical Journal. I am also a certified Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) instructor.

As part of an international team of leading foot and ankle surgeons, I contributed a chapter to the acclaimed textbook Essentials of Foot and Ankle Surgery, recognised worldwide as a gold standard in the field. I have extensive experience in medico-legal reporting and am well-regarded for the quality, efficiency, and responsiveness of my work. I am a member of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS).

In leadership roles, I have served as Deputy Divisional Director for Surgery at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust and have been honoured with an NHS Clinical Excellence Award for my services to foot and ankle surgery. Known as the Yorkshire Foot Surgeon, I maintain a dedicated website offering detailed information about my treatments, patient aftercare, and educational resources. I take great pride in my patients’ outcomes and hold a 5-star rating on Doctify.
