I have specialised in shoulder and upper limb surgery since 2006 and my NHS practice is based at Salford Royal University Teaching Hospital.
was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1995 before completing a research degree (MPhil) at the University of Manchester. I then completed higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in Manchester and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2004.
I further developed my expertise through specialist fellowships in shoulder and elbow surgery at the Nottingham Shoulder and Elbow Unit, as well as additional training with the Harvard Shoulder Service and Boston Sports Injury Service in Massachusetts, USA.
I specialise in arthroscopic (keyhole) shoulder and elbow surgery and regularly treat patients with upper limb sports injuries. My practice also includes open surgical procedures such as joint replacement surgery, alongside the management of complex upper limb trauma and fractures.
I treat a wide range of shoulder and elbow conditions, including AC joint injuries and arthritis, biceps problems, clavicle injuries and fractures, elbow arthritis and instability, frozen shoulder, shoulder arthritis, shoulder fractures, tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow. I also perform shoulder replacement and reverse shoulder replacement surgery where appropriate.
Alongside my clinical practice, I have received academic awards for research and other academic achievements. I am a member of the British Shoulder and Elbow Society (BESS) and the Hospital Consultants and Specialists Association, and I am also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Salford.
