Mr Mohamed Rabie

Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon

MB BCH, MSC, PhD, FRCS (Eng)

I am a consultant colorectal and general surgeon specialising in minimally invasive surgery. Including minimally invasive surgical treatment of colorectal cancer and benign conditions, diverticular disease, and inflammatory bowel disease. My practice also includes minimally invasive treatment of general surgical conditions, including hernias and emergency surgery.

I was privileged to complete two Royal College of Surgeons-accredited fellowships in minimally invasive and robotic techniques for advanced colorectal cancer: the RCSEng MiMICC fellowship at St Mark's Hospital in London, and the RCSEng Robotic Fellowship in Portsmouth. I hold a PhD in colorectal surgery, and I am a graduate of the King's College Leadership and Management Fellowship and the Chief Resident Program.

I am currently working as a consultant surgeon at University Hospital Southampton, and I am the department lead for clinical effectiveness, driving the development of guidelines and strategic innovation across general surgical services. I am also the regional representative for the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (ASGBI) and a member of the Association of Coloproctologists of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI) Education and Training committee.

As a passionate surgical educator, I have structured modular training programs, several simulation-based workshops, and mentorship schemes that empower the next generation of surgeons. My academic portfolio includes over 50 peer-reviewed publications, a book chapter, and international presentations.
