Professional profile

I am a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Warrington and Halton Hospitals. Refractive lens exchange, paediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus are my main areas of interest. A spectacle free lifestyle is my main aim in cataract surgery.

I have performed cataract surgery and refractive lens exchange on approximately 3,700 patients and these include patients with premium Intraocular lenses (IOLs). Dry eye treatment is one of my main areas of special interest.

I completed my medical education in Turin, Italy in 2002. During my medical education I studied as an exchange student at the University of Maastricht in Netherlands and University of Linkoping in Sweden. These early experiences helped me develop an open attitude towards change. I also completed all the three exams necessary to practice medicine in the United States in 2005.

After my medical education and ophthalmology training at the faculty of medicine in Turin, I completed a year of fellowship on cornea in Milan, Italy. Following this I moved to the UK where I worked as a registrar in the Leicester rotation for two years. My first fellowship in paediatric ophthalmology was in Newcastle. This was followed by a second fellowship in adult strabismus and paediatric ophthalmology in Manchester. My main area of expertise is adult strabismus and paediatric ophthalmology but I enjoy seeing patients with a broad spectrum of eye conditions.

I organise a regional squint meeting for consultant ophthalmic surgeons with an interest in strabismus for the North West region. I'm a member of the Medical Advisory Committee at Spire Cheshire Hospital.

Personal profile

My passion for eyes started at an early age as I had to wear glasses myself. I was fascinated by eye doctors, hence my passion for paediatric ophthalmology.

The balance between between a busy and professional life and family, I have two very active toddlers, is not always easy, but very good fun. I like classic cars and I also enjoy playing table tennis.
